Global Climate Strike – We are taking action

This September, millions of us will walk out of our workplaces and homes to join young climate striker on the streets and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels. Our house is on fire – let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone.

This is the call to action from Global Climate Strike. On the 20th and the 27th September, millions worldwide will demand an end to the age of fossil fuels. With over 4000 events in over 120 countries, the aim is to disrupt business as usual to show our politicians that this is no longer an option. This was started by our courageous younger generation, climate strikers, who have been leaving their classrooms every Friday (Friday for Futures) to sound the alarm. The climate crisis will not wait and neither will they. Now they are hoping that everyone else will join them in their actions.

The UN Emergency Climate Summit is on the 23rd September, so now is our chance to deliver a clear message. We can no longer pretend that climate change isn’t happening. It is, the effects are catastrophic, the situation is desperate and we need to act fast if we want future generations to have a home. Deforestation, mining, oil pipelines, plastic pollution, air pollution, greenhouse gases, loss of species, rising sea levels, crop failures, fires, climate migrants, capitalism, corruption… We need to put a stop to this, right now. We need to act to stop burning fossil fuels and ensure a rapid energy revolution with equity, reparations and climate justice at its heart.

The month of July was the hottest we’ve ever recorded, and reports by scientists predict that we’re already standing at the edge of the sixth great extinction.

These stories are just some of the million reasons why youth are striking for the climate. We are seeing a renewed sense of urgency and momentum around the world and we need your help to make sure everyone knows how they can use their voice.

#ClimateStrike

The stakes could not be higher, and what happens next will depend on all of us. Let’s do everything we can to turn things around starting with disrupting business as usual this September 20-27.

"If not you, then who? If not now, then when?"

The world’s biggest ever climate mobilisation was led by children. It’s time adults stepped up. Watch and find out why the Global #ClimateStrike this September needs everyone. globalclimatestrike.net

Climate change and sustainability are at the heart of what we do. This is why we started Gecko Energy 9 years ago, to make renewable energy affordable to all, to tackle climate change and leave a better, greener and more sustainable world to future generations. This is why we are taking action and joining the climate strikers on Friday 20th in the Barnstaple: Global Climate Strike.

We encourage you to join us and them too, in an event near you, on both dates and well beyond. Together we can make a difference.
